Connecting radiant manifolds
At this job I was connecting radiant manifolds. These are how water from the boiler is distributed to the radiant loops (covered more on January 30th). I learned quite a bit installing these, as I had never done this exact thing before. I learned how to disassemble & reassemble them, install them in a way that looks good, and the amount of things I need to think about when installing them. Some of the things I needed to think about when installing these are:
- Making sure it’s level. This involves checking that all of the parts are correctly aligned.
- Making sure it’s oriented the right way and the hot and cold sides are in the right spots (you want to keep it the same throughout the entire house.)
- How I’m going to run the PEX to them (the order does matter)
- How I’m going to connect the copper to it after the manifold is installed.
I also practiced soldering (not in the pics) and connecting PEX lines.
